I started looking at dogs between Thanksgiving and Christmas. There are two shelters in my area: Centre County PAWS and Pets Come First. My apartment complex requires that pets be under 30 pounds, which made the dog search a bit difficult. There are many people who live in apartments in my town, all of which I assume have similar pet weight restrictions, so the competition for small dogs is stiff! After a couple months of searching the shelters, I think I've found the right little dog.
Meet Louie!
Louie, my new pup!
Louie is a seven-year-old West Highland Terrier (otherwise known as a "Westie"). Louie's previous family was not able to keep him so he spent just one night in the shelter before I scooped him up. Although Louie is middle-aged he loves to play with his toys but also enjoys a sleepy time on the couch.
I have had Louie for about two weeks and although the first few days were a bit rough (sorry about the barking, neighbors!) he has settled right into life in his new home. Louie loves going on walks after I get home from work, car rides and snuggling in the chair.
I am technically just fostering Louie right now but if it continues to go well, I will officially adopt him shortly. Please feel free to come visit - Louie loves company!
Louie a bit winded after playing ball. We are working on his waistline because he's a little overweight!
Somehow Louie is able to crawl up to sleep on the back of the couch. I'm not sure how he manages to get up there!
Sound asleep on the couch. I've lost the battle of keeping him off the furniture.
